JELD-WEN vs Andersen Windows: Shelf Prices Compared Style by Style (2026)

JELD-WEN and Andersen are two of the window brands you can price without talking to anyone. Both sell windows at big-box stores. Our September 2026 census of Google Shopping found JELD-WEN's vinyl V-2500 and V-4500 at Home Depot and Lowe's, and Andersen's 100, 200 and 400 Series at Home Depot. So this comparison uses real prices instead of ranges.

Every figure here is the window alone. Installation is the same job for either brand, and our cost model puts insert installation of a double-hung at $185 to $200 per opening. For a whole-project estimate, use the window replacement cost calculator.

How this estimate is calculated

$509–$1,600 per window installed, from BLS wages and the FRED price index

Based on BLS, FRED & EIA data

Labor, weatherproofing and price escalation come from federal data. The base material cost does not — and we say so below rather than rounding it into the same sentence. Reference window: standard vinyl double-hung, retrofit install.

Labor
2 man-hrs (NREL/Craftsman) × $29/hr national carpenter wage (BLS OEWS, SOC 47-2031) × 2.84 contractor markup = $165
Materials
Vinyl frame + Low-E glass, escalated 4.9% since 2025 by the FRED producer price index. The base cost this escalates is not independently sourced — it is the largest single term in the estimate and the one we cannot yet cite. Retail listings for the products named in our tiers put a comparable unit at $284–$379, which brackets it. How we are trying to close that.
Weatherproofing
$20–$35 per opening — flashing tape, foam, backer rod and caulk, priced per opening rather than as a percentage of the window (DuPont GREAT STUFF)
Installed cost
$509–$1,600 per window installed — the low end is buying the window and hiring an installer, the high end is a full-service replacement company. Both are installed prices; they are different markets, roughly 2× apart. · $5,090–$16,000 for a 10-window project (before bulk discount)

Each cell is the range of validated listings with the median, and the listing count says how much weight it deserves. A dash means the census found no listing of that line in that style.

“Shelf” is the retail price of the window alone at Home Depot or Lowe’s — not installed — from our Google Shopping census, checked 2026-09-08. Where no company publishes a price we say so rather than estimate one.

Ranges are wide because sizes vary within a line. A large unit and a small one can sit in the same cell, so compare medians and check that the size on any listing matches your opening. JELD-WEN has many more listings, so its medians are the steadier figures. Several Andersen cells rest on a handful of listings, and the 200 Series double-hung on one.

Andersen markets the 100 Series as “the smart alternative to vinyl”: Fibrex is a composite “combining wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer” that Andersen calls “2x stronger than vinyl.” The 400 Series, Andersen's best seller, wraps wood in Perma-Shield, “a proprietary, high-grade vinyl that we vacuum form or extrude around the wood.” JELD-WEN's big-box lines are vinyl throughout.
