Andersen vs Milgard Windows: Price, Materials & Warranty Compared (2026)
Andersen and Milgard are often compared on Milgard's famous lifetime warranty. That warranty is real, but since July 1, 2024 Milgard has issued two different warranties. Its full lifetime parts-and-labor coverage applies to some series only, for the original owner, in homes inside Milgard's service territory. That detail matters more than anything else on this page.
On price, only one brand can be checked before a quote. Andersen's 100, 200 and 400 Series are sold at Home Depot, where our September 2026 census found shelf medians of $358–$854 per window, unit only. Milgard sells through dealers and publishes no price. Start with the window replacement cost calculator for a project-level estimate.

How this estimate is calculated
$509–$1,600 per window installed, from BLS wages and the FRED price index
Based on BLS, FRED & EIA data
Labor, weatherproofing and price escalation come from federal data. The base material cost does not — and we say so below rather than rounding it into the same sentence. Reference window: standard vinyl double-hung, retrofit install.
- Labor
- 2 man-hrs (NREL/Craftsman) × $29/hr national carpenter wage (BLS OEWS, SOC 47-2031) × 2.84 contractor markup = $165
- Materials
- Vinyl frame + Low-E glass, escalated 4.9% since 2025 by the FRED producer price index. The base cost this escalates is not independently sourced — it is the largest single term in the estimate and the one we cannot yet cite. Retail listings for the products named in our tiers put a comparable unit at $284–$379, which brackets it. How we are trying to close that.
- Weatherproofing
- $20–$35 per opening — flashing tape, foam, backer rod and caulk, priced per opening rather than as a percentage of the window (DuPont GREAT STUFF)
- Installed cost
- $509–$1,600 per window installed — the low end is buying the window and hiring an installer, the high end is a full-service replacement company. Both are installed prices; they are different markets, roughly 2× apart. · $5,090–$16,000 for a 10-window project (before bulk discount)

Andersen vs Milgard: What Each Publishes on Price
Andersen figures are retail shelf prices at Home Depot for the window alone. Installation is extra, and our cost model puts it at $185 to $200 per opening for a double-hung insert. Our census also searched for Milgard Trinsic and Tuscany windows and found no big-box listing it could price.
| Line | Frame | Price per window |
|---|---|---|
| Andersen 100 Series | Fibrex composite | Shelf medians: $483 single-hung, $465 slider, $854 casement |
| Andersen 200 Series | Wood, vinyl Perma-Shield exterior | Shelf $399 (1 listing) |
| Andersen 400 Series | Wood, vinyl Perma-Shield exterior | Shelf medians: $717 double-hung, $588 casement, $358 awning |
| Milgard V250 Style Line / V300 Trinsic / V400 Tuscany / V450 | Vinyl | Not published — priced by dealer quote |
| Milgard C650 Ultra / C700 | Fiberglass | Not published — priced by dealer quote |
“Shelf” is the retail price of the window alone at Home Depot or Lowe’s — not installed — from our Google Shopping census, checked 2026-09-08. Where no company publishes a price we say so rather than estimate one.
A shelf price is a standard-size unit with no labor, trim or disposal. The fair comparison is an installed Andersen quote against a Milgard dealer quote for the same openings. Our installation labor cost guide shows what the labor line should look like.
The Two Lineups
| Andersen | Milgard | |
|---|---|---|
| Vinyl | Not in the 100, 200, 400 or A-Series; 200 and 400 use vinyl only as cladding over wood | V250 Style Line, V300 Trinsic, V400 Tuscany, V450 |
| Fiberglass | A-Series: fiberglass exterior, wood interior | C650 Ultra, C700 |
| Composite | 100 Series: Fibrex inside and out | None |
| Wood interior | 200 Series, 400 Series, A-Series | Not a listed window series material |
| Aluminum | None in the series above | A250 Thermally Improved Aluminum |
Andersen positions the 100 Series as “the smart alternative to vinyl” and the 400 Series as its best seller. Its wood core is protected by Perma-Shield, which Andersen describes as “a proprietary, high-grade vinyl that we vacuum form or extrude around the wood.” Milgard calls V400 Tuscany “top-of-the-line vinyl windows,” says the V250 Style Line pairs quality with affordability, and calls C650 Ultra “exceptionally strong and low-maintenance.” The C700 is Milgard's newest fiberglass series.
For a wood interior, Andersen is the only choice of the two. For an all-vinyl window, Milgard is.

Milgard covers windows sold after July 1, 2024 under one of two documents, depending on the series:
| Milgard Full Lifetime | Milgard Lifetime Limited | Andersen 400 Series | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series | V400 Tuscany, V300 Trinsic; V450 and V250 only if upgraded at purchase | C650 Ultra, V450, V250 Style Line, A250 | 400 Series |
| Original owner, inside service territory | Parts and labor, for as long as you own and live in the home | Frame: parts for life. Glass unit and components: parts for 20 years. Skilled labor: 10 years | 20 years standard glass, 10 years non-glass |
| Original owner, outside service territory | Parts only, for life | Same parts terms; owner pays all labor and shipping | Same as above |
| Later owners | 10 years, parts only | 10 years, parts only | Transferable (Owner-to-Owner) |
| Glass breakage | Tuscany and V450 included; Trinsic with upgrade | Excluded | See series warranty |
- “Service Territory” is defined by Milgard at milgard.com/serviceterritory. Labor coverage depends on whether your home was inside it “at the time of Product purchase.”
- The C700 is not named in either July 2024 document. Ask the dealer which warranty applies and get it in writing.
- Some coverage is shorter on both Milgard warranties: 10 years on painted and fiberglass frame finishes, and one year on weatherstripping, insect screens and stress cracks.
Which Should You Choose?
Choose Andersen if:
- You want a wood interior. Milgard's window series list no wood.
- You want to see a price first. Andersen's retail lines are priced on the shelf at Home Depot.
- You may sell within a few years. A Milgard warranty drops to 10 years of parts for the next owner.
Choose Milgard if:
- You are inside Milgard's service territory and plan to stay. That is where a Tuscany or Trinsic window's lifetime parts-and-labor coverage applies.
- You want all-vinyl or all-fiberglass frames. Milgard offers four vinyl series and two fiberglass series.
